The Mission Statement of Pastor Bayard S. Taylor, Jr.

The mandate that has been placed on my heart is from the gospel of Luke 4:18-19: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because He has anointed me to preach the Gospel to the Poor; He has sent me to Heal the Brokenhearted, to Preach Deliverance to the Captives, and Recovering of Sight to the Blind, to Set at Liberty them that are Bruised, To Preach The Acceptable Year Of The Lord.”

In my attempt to define my mission as Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church the following parameters of ministry are presented in the context of mission.

I. Evangelism

Equip every Member of Calvary Baptist Church to share effectively the gift of Faith in Jesus Christ so that more people will respond to Christ’s Invitation to be Faithful Disciples within the Church and the World.

Support in Partnership with other Churches and Community Based Groups and Ecumenical Bodies and Others who Suffer Injustices so that there is a decrease in VIOLENCE towards Persons living in our community and through the Community of Faith developing ways in which those Denied access will have FULL Access and Participation in Church, Community and Society.

Increase our direct involvement and ecumenical participation in offerings of the Riverside Baptist Association, The Philadelphia Baptist Association, The Progressive National Baptist Association, The American Baptist Churches of Pennsylvania and Delaware, ThePennsylvania Congress of Christian Education, and The Pennsylvania State Baptist Convention within Calvary Baptist Church so that;

There is an increase in the number of Our Congregation directly involved in the Mission effort first hand, and;
